About

The Concept

Stop.Look.Listen. began life as a series of successful underground basement parties in Hackney and London's West End. Run by DJ Ben Cox and friends, the nights looked to re-establish forgotten grooves and showcase them alongside contemporary classics, the only prerequisite being to make a room Stop. Look. (and) Listen. The blog was born, a home for all things SLL on the web.

For DJs and soul lovers, the explosion of online music has made it more difficult to find the best new tracks. Stop.Look.Listen. does the digging for you, connecting with the world’s premier labels and producers to bring you the best the soulful web has to offer, plus relevant editorial and comment.

The Love

I've known Ben since we were both relative rookies in the digital advertising industry in London. We both learnt a hell of a lot in those first 2 years working together, both about advertising, but also about social media (this was 2008 when Facebook was starting to really take off), and of course music - we started DJing together and doing a few of our parties; the amount of great new music Ben came across was staggering, I never did work out where he found all of it, but it was a lot of fun trying to trump one another with the best freshest track one of us had got hold of that week before a gig.

More recently, I've just come back from a holiday in Ibiza with a bunch of fellow music industry friends, all of whom are very particular about what they listen to in their leisure time. Thus it probably says a lot that the first port of call when it came to soundtracking the trip was an email to Ben trying to get an advance download of his newest podcast...which he very kindly delivered.

Ben has a true talent in music and providing customers not only with what they want to hear but with excellent delivery. He is trustworthy, personable and has always provided a great service that I believe, was one of the core pieces in creating a popular night at this venue. Because of the success Ben brought to The Shoreditch, I invited him to DJ at several of our other venues. I would recommend working with Ben to any venue.
